China Residencies is thrilled to have two incredibly smart and very very qualified interns join us this summer to support our mission of providing resources for artists and residency programs throughout China.
| Yi Cao Grant writing + Events Intern

Born and raised in Beijing, Yi (Sally) Cao is currently pursuing her Master of Arts Management at Carnegie Mellon University. With an undergraduate degree in Accounting from Beijing's University of Science and Technology, she decided to combine her management background with her arts experience to pursue arts administration. In addition to her internship with China Residencies, she is also helping out at Residency Unlimited and PS1. Previously, she contributed to projects at organizations including the Mattress Factory Museum of Contemporary Art, Chambers Fine Art Gallery and China Guardian Auctions. She is also a flutist and visual artist.
"I am interested in the way that arts residency programs in China can be a catalyst for artists' careers, and I am fascinated by the infinite possibilities for culture exchange generated by China Residencies."
Hong received her BA in Art and Design at Shanghai's Jiao Tong University in 2012. After graduation, she moved to the United States and is currently working on her MFA in Design & Visual Communications at Virginia Commonwealth University. Hong previously interned in a Shanghai-based design and art consultancy firm, Nong Art Space, focusing on organizing exhibitions and art events. She is currently learning web design and programming, while continue to hone her design portfolio.
